Where Epos Now is ahead

  • A till supplied

A countertop till supplied with the software, as one bundle.

  • A website builder

Epos Now Online, released in February 2026, builds a shop website from templates with a drag-and-drop editor. Products, prices and stock come from the same back office as its till. Talstok’s page builder is coming, and not built yet.

  • Payments built in

Its own payments service, connected to the till, at a published flat 1.70% for Visa and Mastercard in person. Talstok does not connect to card readers. Online, Epos Now Online charges 1.4% + 15p on domestic cards, less than Stripe’s 1.5% + 20p on any order.

  • Care and support

The bundle comes with a payments, care and support subscription.

  • An app store, and years in UK shops

A large app store, and a long record of selling tills to UK shops.

Questions

What do Epos Now reviews say?

This page compares what Epos Now publishes, not what its customers say. For reviews, read independent review sites, and weigh them against three things that matter to a small shop: how long the agreement runs, the card rate, and what the hardware costs.

How much does Epos Now cost?

Epos Now did not publish a software price on its UK pricing page on 5 October 2026. Its discounted hardware bundle needed a 12-month payments, care and support subscription from £54 a month. Card payments were 1.70% flat for Visa and Mastercard in person, and 1.4% + 15p on domestic cards online through Epos Now Online.

Do I need to buy hardware for Talstok?

No, if you already have a computer or tablet: Talstok runs in a web browser. To take cards at the counter you also need a card machine from a payment company. You take the payment on it and record it at the till.

What are the alternatives to Epos Now?

Tills that say they have no long-term agreement include Square POS (free, with 1.75% per in-person card payment), the Zettle app (free, 1.75%) and SumUp Point of Sale Pro (£49 a month), all read on 5 October 2026. Talstok costs from £20 a month for each shop that takes real money, and what each plan includes is being decided.
