Delivery and phone orders

On its own, or with any other base.

Take orders by phone and deliver them yourself. Coming

Coming: phone orders in the same list as your online and till orders, a delivery time for each, and a driver’s list for each run. Posted orders and click and collect work today, through Online shop.

What it is for

  • Take orders by phone Coming

Type each phone order into the same list as your online and till orders.

  • Deliver them yourself Coming

Give each order a delivery time or slot, and each driver a list for the run.

  • Make up and pack each order Coming

Follow each order from the kitchen or packing bench to the door, on a screen in a web browser.

  • Post orders or let customers collect

Postage by order value or weight, free postage over an amount, and click and collect, through Online shop.

Who it may suit

  • Takeaways and food shops
  • Florists
  • Builders’ merchants
  • Shops that deliver locally
  • Any business that takes orders to hand over later

Why it helps

  • Every order in one list

Orders from your till and your online shop sit in one list, to search, filter by date or state, and tag.

  • Record each handover

Mark each online order as sent with its carrier and tracking number, or with the local courier who took it. When a customer collects, the dashboard asks who collected it.

  • One stock count

Every order, posted, collected or sold at the till, comes off the same count.

  • No charge per person

The price is per shop, never per person. Give every member of staff their own log-in and role.

What it does

Modules on top Coming

A module is an extra feature on top of a base. Switch on only the ones you want, the way you add apps to a phone, and pay for each one by itself. Switch one off and everything it recorded stays.

  • Bookkeeping and accounts Coming

Every sale, refund and supplier order kept as your books, with nothing typed in twice. On every base.

  • AI built into Talstok Coming

Reports, analysis and help building your website, on a monthly allowance. On every base.

Put AI to work here

AI is always optional. Every part works in full without it.

  • Ask your assistant which paid orders are still to be sent, and for their Royal Mail Click & Drop label file.

  • Ask your assistant to mark an order as sent, with its carrier and tracking number.

  • Ask your assistant to add a postage rate by order value or weight, with free postage over an amount.

Questions about delivery and phone orders

Can I use just delivery and phone orders?

Delivery and phone orders is coming. Like every base, it works on its own or tied to any of the others.

Do I need a website?

No. A website is one of the bases, and it is optional. Run your business with no website, or use Talstok for your website alone.

What does Talstok cost?

Talstok costs from £20 a month for each shop that takes real money, depending on the parts it uses. Test shops are free.

What happens to my records if I switch it off?

Switch a part off, or stop paying, and nothing you recorded is deleted.

Download your stock, customers and reports as spreadsheets at any time. The owner can also download the whole shop, including the parts that are switched off.

How do I bring my products in?

Paste in a spreadsheet of up to 2,000 new products, and every row is checked and shown to you before anything is saved. It uses its own column headings and brings in products only, without photos.

A developer or an AI assistant can bring a whole catalogue in from a file, photos included, once your old system’s export is put in the right shape.

Moving across from Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, Wix and similar is coming.

Can I post orders today?

Yes. Posted orders work today through Online shop, with postage by order value or weight and free postage over an amount.

Dispatch in one step, with the tracking saved and the customer emailed. Download a label file for Royal Mail Click & Drop, or a plainer one for Evri that has not been checked against Evri’s own template, then buy and print the labels in their own system.

Can customers collect their orders?

Yes. Click and collect works today: customers choose it and pay at your online checkout, and the order shows in your list as one for collection. Paying when they collect is not built.

When you hand it over, record who collected it, by name or receipt reference.

Is the customer emailed when a collection is ready?

Not today. The order confirmation tells the customer the order is for collection. An email when it is ready is not built.

Can I take an order by phone today?

Not yet. Phone orders are coming.

Today a sale at the till is complete the moment it is paid, so an order cannot be taken now and handed over later.

Can I offer local delivery at my online checkout?

Not by area. Postage rates are set by country, not by postcode or local area, so a delivery rate is offered to every address in that country.

Delivery times and slots, and a driver’s list for each run, are coming.

Can I record that a local courier took an order?

Yes. When you mark an online order as sent, choose a local courier as the carrier and type the courier’s name or reference in the tracking number box. Delivery runs and a driver’s list are coming.

Does it work for a takeaway or a food shop that delivers?

Not yet. Phone orders, delivery runs and a screen for the kitchen are coming, with every order taken online or by phone kept in one list.

Today a food business can sell at the till and online, for posting or click and collect. Selling by weight is not built, and bundles or products that must carry a batch number sell online only.

When are phone orders and local delivery ready?

No date is set. The Ledger lists the main changes, dated, as they go live.

Start in three steps.

  1. Ask for a free test copy

Write to us, and we set up a test shop where no money moves.

  2. Set up posting and collection

Add your postage rates and click and collect in Settings.

  3. Add what you sell

Add your products, then take your first order.

From £20 a month. For each shop that takes real money, depending on the parts it uses. Test shops are free.
